Why Mentoring And Coaching Is Important

If you read a lot of personal development books, or follow blogs, or listen to podcasts, you'll hear mentoring being brought up a lot. So let's answer the question: Why is mentoring so important to your personal development?

Really, it boils down to a few things: 1) Mentoring brings new ideas to the forefront of your mind, things you would have never though about on your own. 2) Mentoring provides a safe space to explore your own ideas. 3) Mentoring creates accountability.

I love to tell my clients to think about life coaching the way you would think about fitness coaching. So often, people pay for a gym membership and go a handful of times a month (if at all). But when they pay to meet at specific times with a specific trainer, they're bound to go regularly, and to do their homework in-between. They get new information and get someone they trust to be their support system. Life coaching or mentoring is no different.
